This poster campaign is a commentary on the issue of mountain top removal (MTR mining). MTR mining is a form of mining that involves the removal of the summit of a mountain. It leads to various environmental issues, the most obvious being the destruction of the landscape and vegetation, which in most cases is not recoverable.
The project was inspired by a trip to Kayford Mountain, where I met a man with an unrelenting spirit to fight against MTR mining. The result is a poster series that highlights the often ignored emotional embitterment that occurs due to the power and influence many coal companies have over the locals in coal communities. MTR mining is more than an environmental issue – it brings down the rich heritage of communities endowed with natural resources like coal.
